My daughter has gotten into AG Mini Dolls recently. I ordered her first one (Caroline) two Christmases ago off of Amazon. The doll was beautifully styled, gorgeous dress and hair and the mini book was hardback, making it feel extra special. The doll's body was a direct copy of the large dolls: skin colored cloth with the string around the neck, posable arms and legs. The second mini doll we found for her was retired Rebecca (maroon dress) at a consignment sale. Once again, same great quality. She LOVES them.Mini BeForever Samantha was her choice for her birthday this year and we excitedly ordered her (about the same sale price as Caroline was) and waited for her arrival. While she was excited when she opened the box, I noticed she wasn't playing with Samantha as she did the others and asked her why. She said she didn't like her! I was really shocked because my daughter adores anything tiny, and anything American Girl (or for 18" dolls). I asked her why, and her answer was that she didn't feel the same. She had a plastic body and she didn't like that. I had to undress the doll because I didn't believe her at first! Yes, the plastic body was there. No high quality fabric construction. I was actually sad. I received the original Samantha from Pleasant Company from my parents when I was a girl, and although the current versions of the dolls are not exactly the same, the differences are fairly inconsequential. The move to a plastic body for these mini dolls seemed to be a terrible step away from the high quality AG claims to adhere to.The other part I'm not a fan of are Samantha's bangs. They are smashed flat to her forehead and are fairly layered making them look a little funny on the ends. A thicker slightly curled-under fringe would have been more like the original Samantha. Her eyes are also fairly close-set making her face look a little funny. All in all, if I were to choose between purchasing the same doll in the the older cloth-bodied style and newer vinyl-bodied dolls, I would NOT have chosen the vinyl body. Something I discovered when looking up details about the change: the mini dolls manufactured from 2014 on are all vinyl body. Hope that helps someone make a decision!Cute, but much smaller than expected. I took a picture next to a gallon water jug for comparison. Any girl reading American Girl will get a kick out of her though and have fun playing. Comes with a super mini book too for the doll.Cute but very small. I knew this doll wasn’t going to be very big but it seems even smaller in person. I’m in my upper 20’s and the doll is a little bigger than the palm of my hand. The book is even smaller and while readable would take a lot of straining to complete. Samantha’s dress is well made and her hair is very soft and doesn’t seem to knot like some Barbie dolls. My daughter loves this doll and to me that’s all that matters. My daughter wanted "The tiny american girl dolls with the itty bitty books." This is one of them. The book is a little smaller than 2"x3" with ridiculously tiny print but it is a real story and she loves it. She looks absurd reading it but she does actually read it. Consider this cheaper than an eye exam. If your kid can read it at all they can see just fine. The doll is a 6" small doll. The clothing is excellent quality. The lace is true knit lace and the dress is really pretty. The doll's hair is nice and soft. My daughter is absolutely in love with it. Other chains sell their own version of the 6" doll and I have to say this is not much more but leaps and bounds ahead in terms of quality. My daughters Samantha American Girl doll got this doll for Christmas. My nine-year-old was ecstatic! Excellent quality, typical of American Girl doll brandSo tiny but so cute. Also 20$ is a little much but I bought it to save it. Not to play with it. I had to order a second one . My 4 year old daughter stole my first one lolIt was very very small but overall a good doll. Just a lot smaller than I thought. My daughter likes to have the mini dolls to match her regular sized dolls.Beautiful well made mini dollLovelyPerfect No Complaints shame no new Nellie as got original nelli and samantha? For the price, it's ok I guess. However, I wouldn't have ordered it had I known just how cheaply it appears to be manufactured -- particularly the extremely tiny little book. That book is also so very tiny that it's almost unreadable. The doll itself is so very short and quite small all around. The ads for it are all very deceiving in this regard. Yes they do indicated precise measurements, however, you really do not have a good idea just how tiny this doll really is until you see it for yourself. The ads' photos never utilize comparison objects to realistically portray the doll's real size, so in that sense it is very misleading and as such, in my view... a form of unethical advertising... they know it's so very tiny and likely wouldn't sell well so it's obvious they intentionally omit relative imaging to entice better sells.
